A Game Changing Leader of Truth and Unity

We would be aloof not to honor the New Maverick game changing leadership influence and insights of Martin Luther King Jr. today, a federal holiday in King’s honor. King was the chief spokesman for nonviolent activism in the civil rights movement, which successfully protested racial discrimination in federal and state law. Dr. King completely imbibed the New Maverick leadership qualities of truth and unity, which ultimately makes one’s vision victorious in the end.

Martin Luther King Celebration Song and Message

I thought the best way to do this would be to share an amazing powerful song about Dr. King’s life written and performed by my friend Aliza Hava. She is a New Maverick game changing leader in her own right not only as an incredible singer songwriter but also an educator. Below is Aliza’s tribute song about Martin Luther King and her message how arts education has the power to uplift consciousness and human development.

Music and Storytelling Engage More of the Brain

As you may have seen from Michael Sternfeld’s video on the Three Keys to Peak Performance, music is one of the three most powerful things for developing the human brain, the other two being meditation and exercise. Also story telling, which songs are in musical form, has been shown to engage more of the brain. Hence why music is such a powerful game changing influence for the individual and society.

Take it away Aliza with your incredible song and your game changing insights in celebration of the great New Maverick game changing leadership spirit of Martin Luther King Jr.!!

By Aliza Hava

It is quite possible that every human being on earth has at one point been deeply touched or transformed by some form of creative expression.  Music, Dance, Literature, Theater, Fine Arts and, yes, even Graffiti can work their way into both the conscious and unconscious mind, evoking powerful emotions and inspiring new thought and personal growth.   However, in this modern day, the constant emphasis on economic development and technological advancement has created a rift in society’s perception of the value of the Arts – despite their inherent power to enhance and uplift human consciousness.

Music Education as a powerful development tool

For example, over the last decade, Music Education in the United States has continued to suffer extensive budget cuts nationwide, despite evidence that such programs dramatically improve math and reading skills as well as promoting creative thinking, social and emotional development and healthy self-esteem.

As a Musician, Educator, and Songwriter, this reality has caused me to explore various ways of sharing knowledge and inspiration both within and beyond the classroom.   Several years ago I was commissioned to compose a song honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a man whose moral and spiritual ideals were so deeply grounded in truth that they have continued to lead the charge against inequality well beyond his passing.

Martin Luther King’s message is still required today

As we honor Dr. Martin Luther King today, please enjoy this song that was composed with the intention to educate youth about the facts of his life.  The music video was inspired by the recent tragic events in Ferguson, New York City and beyond.

In the words of Dr. King, “There’s a long road ahead…we’ve got work to do.”

MLK others

May the man and his message continue to inspire countless individuals to commit themselves to the daily struggle for peace, justice and human dignity.   May the dream he so eloquently shared with the world be realized in our generation.   And may the miracle of love heal the hearts of the wounded and help us remember the true nature with which we have all emerged from the womb…innocent and open to expansive possibilities.

Aliza+Hava+-+FemmeAliza Hava is an up and coming singer/songwriter currently working with several multi-platinum, Grammy winning producers on her new album.  She is an unsigned artist, yet her songs have been included on film soundtracks with artists like Annie Lenox, Yoko Ono and Rickie Lee Jones.  She’s based in California and has recently released a new music video to an educational song about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as it relates to what’s happening right now in the U.S.   She has a vision of how music can help create a better world and works with non-profits developing intercultural music projects, including the United Nations’ International Day of Peace.  Everything she’s done has been independent to this point, but she is definitely in the market for a solid management team to help her reach the widest possible audience.   Here are some of her videos for you to check out.
