Honoring Robin Williams & Understanding Why?

By on July 20, 2014

Yesterday, along with the world, I was saddened by the news flash: Comedian Robin Williams dies at 63 in apparent suicide. Oh no! I thought, not Robin Williams! I grew up with Mork and Mindy, watching Robin’s since I was 5! I LOVED him in all his roles! He was one of my most favorites.

A moment of silence emerged within me as I held a space for our beloved Robin Williams – the Oscar winning actor who made us laugh and cry, the genius who moved us emotionally with his one-of-a-kind talent.

I soon learned that Robbins had been battling severe depression, and dealing with addiction.

As I continued reading the story, I saw a quote from a few years earlier where Robin Williams tells ABC News:

“You’re standing at a precipice and you look down, there’s a voice and it’s a little quiet voice that goes, ‘Jump.’ The same voice that goes, ‘Just one.’ … And the idea of ‘just one’ for someone who has no tolerance for it, that’s not the possibility.”
What voice is Robin Williams talking about here?
This inner dialogue is the interplay of the conscious and subconscious mind.

When a person allows a thought to permeate their mind this thought begins to grow roots. The roots grow deep into the heart where the thought summons emotion and gains power and life. Soon the roots descend into the solar plexus where the thought is subconsciously (and automatically) acted on.

This can be dangerous if it’s a negative thought! It leads to pain, destruction, and miscreation! This is the source of separation, divorce, disharmony, war, addiction, and suicide.

What is required is a new way of thinking. This can almost seem impossible to grasp in the midst of a severe depression, but there is hope.

One can ask for help.

Miraculous healings happen every day!

We each have the support (if we ask for it), and the power – even if it doesn’t seem like it in the moment – to transform our thoughts.

This rarely comes naturally because we live in an environment that is ridden with negativity. These factors can give rise to inner demons. We must learn to rise above these toxic forces if we are to embody our infinite potential. We must learn to wisely direct our mind; to neutralize or alchemize negative thoughts. And to ask for help when we are in trouble.

As for our beloved Robin Williams, your memory will be forever with us. The joy and laughter you brought is stored within our hearts. Thank you for sharing your gifts. May peace that surpasses all understanding be with your family in this time. May your soul rest and be carried to the next stage of evolution.
